Celebrate the Year of the Dog with a bit of Disney magic

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort gets into the spirit of Chinese New Year with its first ever Hong Kong-style Chinese New Year Night Market and more

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort welcomes the Year of the Dog with fabulous festivities from special appearances by God of Fortune Goofy and playful Pluto to street decorations themed after the Lunar New Year.

The resort is set to debut its first ever Chinese New Year Night Market that will feature food and specialty stalls sprawled across Main Street, U.S.A. and the Plaza. Brimming with festive atmosphere, the new attraction emulates Hong Kong’s Lunar New Year fairs where visitors can get their hands on local snacks such as the Mickey-shaped Red Bean Pudding and Egg Puffs as well as exclusive merchandise items such as the Disney Greeting Windmill and Disney Blessing Ornaments. From 16 to 20 February, the park will also be giving away Year of the Dog-themed ‘lai see’ red packets that contain a chocolate gold coin and a merchandise coupon, while supplies last.

Kick off the new year with blessings from God of Fortune Goofy who will be waiting at The Annex on Main Street, U.S.A. to greet visitors. Disney friends will also be making appearances in dazzling festive outfits to offer their best wishes. Be sure to take photos with Disney pals for the family photo album!

Aside from fun festivities, the park and three hotels will also be presenting nearly 70 festive delights that include Chinese New Year set menus and snacks to celebrate the new year. Feast on festive delicacies featured in the Chinese New Year Set Menu at Main Street Corner Cafe hosted by Coca-Cola. If you are after a more sumptuous celebration, there will also be the New Year Special Set 2018 at Plaza Inn. Alternatively, get your hearty meal fix at lunch and dinner buffets at Chef Mickey which also includes a line-up of delicious choices. To start the new year off on the right foot, visitors can get the lucky “Lo Hei” at Studio Lounge at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel.

Disney fans will be delighted to know that a full range of items celebrating the season will be available at Hong Kong Disneyland. More than 40 merchandise including new ‘101 Dalmatians’ plush toys and Pluto toys wearing a Chinese New Year outfit will be sold here. Start the year by visiting friends and relatives wearing festive Disney apparel and bearing Disney goodies, ‘lai see’ packets and traditional ‘fai chun’!
