ARE YOU READY FOR OCC 3TEN RUN?
The OCC 3Ten Run 2016 is back for the second year, bringing together sports enthusiasts for a night of community running, pushing fitness boundaries and offering personal best shot on the buggy track. With new improved version of the 3Ten Run, get together this September and participate in the adrenaline-packed adventure of a uniquely Singapore’s First Night Golf Course Run 2016 at the 27-hole golf course of Orchid Country Club (OCC).
Building on the successful debut of the Club’s inaugural OCC 3Ten Run, which was launched in 2015, the run event had received welcoming responses from runners in Singapore and around the region. This year, the OCC 3Ten Run 2016 is jointly organised by OCC and Ideas Room Consulting Pte Ltd in partnership with the event’s Official Running Magazine – RUN Singapore and Lupus Association (Singapore), an organisation which aims to improve understanding about the risk and symptoms of the chronic disease especially among people with lupus and their families.
Now in its second run, OCC is honoured to have one of Singapore's best runners in 10km, Marcus Ong, to join the OCC 3Ten Run as run ambassador and Md Shariff Abdullah, also known by many as ‘Singapore’s Blade Runner', who became the first AWD Mobility Impaired (MI) runner in Asia to qualify and run the prestigious Boston Marathon in USA multiple times.
The OCC 3Ten Run 2016 will take place on Saturday, 03 September 2016 offering athletic opportunities to avid runners to race hard and promote living a healthy lifestyle. With an aim for runners to form a bucket-list of run events in the run calendar, there is a run category specifically catered for leisure runners to embark on an enjoyable run journey at OCC.
On the significance of the OCC 3Ten Run 2016, Mr Peter Goh, General Manager of Orchid Country Club said: “The OCC 3 Ten Run is both special and unique in its own way, and at the same time, to inspire a running spirit in junior runners and encourage the people of all ages and the young generation to build a passion for the sport.”
“Being Singapore’s First Night Golf Course Run across three fully lit golf courses, namely, Dendro, Vanda and Aranda, all runners will enjoy the cool breeze and scenic route with the beautiful backdrop of reservoir and golf course”, said Mr Goh.
The mass run event is set to flag-off at 1800 hours for the mixed race categories – 10km Individual Open (competitive), 5km Fun Run (non-competitive), 1.5km Family Run (recreational). Participants in the Family Fun category can form a one adult and one child team and run a distance of 1.5km together.
In addition, cash prizes, trophy and sponsored products will be awarded to top three winners in the 10km Men's and Women's Open. Look out for special promotions, exciting lucky draws and fringe activities happening at the Race Village. Attractive goodies bags will be given out too. 3Ten Runners will receive a race entry pack each with a specially designed “OCC 3Ten Run 2016” running t-shirt, string bag and other merchandises from sponsors.
